WHO I WORK WITH AND MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

Creativity heals

Hi, I’m Jayashree George. I’m a family art therapist, but you might also call me a creative healer. I believe that it is your birthright to be creative and live a life of joy, no matter the odds. People come to me for help with feeling stressed out, feeling stuck in their relationships, feeling the pain of childhood injuries or feeling inadequate or undeserving for any variety of reasons. Sometimes people lose their relationship with themselves because they are stressed out or traumatized and have come undone with pain. I help people who long to be in tune with their partners or within themselves, but find themselves hidden under layers of pain. To express the pain with words and images gives it creative form and often releases it from our bodies, helping us find our true voice. Such expression has within it the healing power to help people find true caring for themselves and each other. Becoming free of judgment, releasing creativity, finding healing perspectives, becoming responsive, not reactive, suddenly makes for a more loving world. I am trained in art therapy, somatic experiencing and couples therapy.

I am also a somatically oriented therapist, which means that I will be attentive to the messages your body gives you in the form of sensations. If you have experienced any kind of trauma, stress or anxiety, small or big, you may be noticing moments of activation. Sometimes these moments can be quite disruptive, and at other times, they can go unheeded. While we may interpret these moments in different ways, the body, however, never lies. I believe that our biology is innately resourceful and capable of coming back to a state of health and well-being. Using art to express these sensations speeds up the healing as the body is helped to release long held stories directly. As an Art Therapist, I find the creative process to be inherently healing and you can use art and words as a powerful combination to access healing. I have an open invitation for you to create art as a way to communicate beyond words.

If you suffer from relationship distress, whether you access me for individual therapy or couples therapy, I will help you sort out your relationship, not taking sides, helping you find balance and repair that moves you towards a secure bond. It is the imagination that unlocks souls and soulmates.

I am currently accepting new clients, and invite you to call 620-794-0994 to schedule an initial appointment. I'm excited to connect with you!

Warmly,

Jayashree
